Urban Axes Durham
We’re thrilled to share our 2025 Urban Axes League Calendar! This includes dates for all six league seasons, our major tournaments, and IATF events.
Yes, there are now six seasons! Based on survey feedback, we removed gap weeks to allow league members to throw every week, while keeping the preferred 8-week season length. If you need to miss a week due to scheduling conflicts, holidays, or breaks, matches can be rescheduled by your league coach with advance notice. In some cases, Sunday leagues may run 7-week seasons to avoid conflicts with other events, though 28 matches will still be included.
Urban Axes Austin will host their last major tournament April 4-6, with more details coming soon! Urban Axes Boston’s major tournament, Red, White & Bullseyes, is moving to the last weekend of September, and will now have an Oktoberfest theme. This move shifts it further away from IATC’s new dates and the Fourth of July while avoiding conflicts with other major tournaments close by.
We’ll announce additional events, like Urban Legends and marathon leagues, throughout the year. Feel free to share event ideas with your venue’s General Manager, as we can add events by request with sufficient interest. Please let us know if you have questions, and we look forward to a fantastic year of leagues and tournaments!
Registration for Season 5 Leagues is now closed, though Thursday Big Axe League in Austin is still open as league start was delayed until Nov. 7th. Season 1, 2025 will begin Jan. 5th!
* As of January 1, 2023, the IATF has mandated a new $8 per thrower per league fee to use, maintain and improve Axescores as well as help with the growth and development of axe throwing and the IATF. You will see this fee listed as “IATF League Fee” on your invoices. This fee applies for all leagues run through Axescores, whether they be standard, premier, marathon or recreational.
The holidays are almost here, and we're offering another chance to get together and throw with your league community before the New Year! Tournament of Champions is a fun, friendly tournament open to all past or present Urban Axes league members who have won a league championship. Tournament of Future Champions will be open only to past or present Urban Axes league members who have not yet won a league championship. This event will also serve as a leaguers holiday party, so spectators are welcome and we encourage everyone to bring dishes for a festive potluck and to dress for the occasion. Click on your venue for tickets and more info!
Have a friend you think would enjoy league? Invite them to one of our FREE New Leaguers Open House events Dec. 15th, 17th, or 18th! These events give new throwers the opportunity to give axe throwing a try, meet other future league members, and learn about the world of axe throwing! Open houses are free, but each thrower attending must sign-up online so we know how many participants to expect! Click your venue to register: AUS | BAL | BOS | DUR
Participation is limited to one hour on one of the dates. Previous league members may only attend the Open House if accompanying a prospective league member and will otherwise be invited to reserve a lane for practice.
We're offering first-time league members a free hour of throwing the week prior to their first league night! Come out to Urban Axes on Sunday, Dec. 29th or Saturday, Jan. 4th, 2-4pm, to meet fellow rookies and other league members, get training from our awesome coaches, and ask any questions you have about league! Click your venue to register: AUS | BAL | BOS | DUR
Current league members are also encouraged to attend our Rookie Clinics to welcome our new members and participate in a free hour of throwing as well! No sign-up is required for previous members, but space will be dependent on how many rookies choose to attend as they will be given priority. So come hi to our new members and help show them the ropes!
Urban Open Ladyblades and Urban Madness return to Urban Axes Durham January 17-19! Ladyblades events will be for women* only and Urban Madness will be open to everyone. Both tournaments are Majors in the IATF Tournament Circuit, so the winners will each be reserved a spot in Round 2 of the International Axe Throwing Championship!
Tickets are on sale now! Join our Facebook event for more updates and visit our event webpage for ticket sales and event announcements!
