Season 3 of our 2024 leagues is kicking off soon! Our eight (8) week leagues will be running on Sundays starting at 1pm and 6pm, Tuesday nights starting at 7pm, and Wednesday nights starting at 7pm - all with practice one hour before.

Sunday Brunch Beginners League is open to throwers in their first, second, or third league season only, and it allows new throwers to receive more instruction from their coach and throw with other first-timers on a level playing field.

We're now offering TWO five (5) week recreational leagues this season: Monday Big Axe League and Thursday 1.5 Rotation League!

Throw a full-size felling axe in Monday Big Axe LeagueStarts 6/17 at 7pm (6pm Practice)

We are offering an all-new Thursday 1.5 Rotation League this season! 1.5 rotation is a skill throw where the axes rotates one and a half times in the air before striking the target with the handle facing up. Matches are played in the same fashion as Standard Rules hatchet leagues.

Players will compete in 16 round robin matches over 4 weeks, followed by a Week 5 playoff for the top 16 throwers! This league will be run through Axescores, but it will not affect players career stats or CRS as it will be a rec league. We're sure someone will record a 1.5 rotation 81 though and it could be you! Starts 6/20 at 7pm (6pm Practice)

BOS

new leaguers open house

Urban Axes is looking forward to hosting our next season of leagues starting the week of May 19th! Before leagues start, we are hosting a FREE League Open House event for new throwers interested in joining a league for the first time! This is a great opportunity to give axe throwing a try, meet other future league members, and learn about the world of axe throwing!

Come for the axe throwing - stay for the community. Open houses are free, but you (and a friend? ) must sign-up online at https://urbanaxes.com/events/bostonopenhouse

How it works

Axe throwing is an individual sport played in a group setting. Therefore, forming teams is not necessary. If you had a team in mind, you, your friends and/or colleagues should each sign up individually to take part in the league on the same night of the week. You'll all get to throw together but also with and against other league members.

Over the first 7 weeks, you will play 4 matches each week against other league members to determine who will make the

playoffs in week 8. Each match consists of three rounds of 5 throws (so 15 axes total per match). During week 8, the top 16 competitors will compete in a double-elimination tournament to determine the league winner. League members have the opportunity to qualify for the International Axe Throwing Championship each year.

As founding members of the International Axe Throwing Federation, our leagues are built around the rules defined by IATF. You can find details of the IATF rules here.

What else should I know

Urban Axes has IATF-compliant axes for sale as low as $25 each plus tax. You can use one of general pool of axes but isn't it much more fun to have your own axe? You're in an axe throwing league! We have sourced what we consider to be the best throwing axes available that are used across Canada where the sport originated.

If you want to bring your own axe, it must meet IATF specifications.
