2026 League News

Thanks to everyone who has given us feedback on what we can improve upon in 2026.  There are a lot of pretty big changes this year, so please read this very long text!  

The 2026 League Calendar is now live on the Leaguer Page!  This includes dates for all 6 league seasons, as well as planned dates of tournaments, marathon leagues and events. 

7-Week Leagues

We received A LOT of feedback that people don’t like not having a gap week between seasons.  To accommodate this and to maintain our IATC representation, in 2026 we are shortening our regular seasons to 7-week seasons (6 weeks + playoffs) with 25 matches, and reducing the price to $130 for all locations.  Rec leagues (Big Axe, Ladyblades, Doubles, etc) will remain 5 weeks.  There will be a gap week between all seasons. 

new + better Discounts

We haven’t done a good enough job thanking and rewarding league members for coming back season after season, and we’d like to change that now.  Starting this season, you will receive a retention discount for each consecutive season you sign up for, and that discount will increase throughout the year.  If you’re in a league this season (Season 6), you’ll receive a retention discount for signing up for Season 1.   If you’re in 2 leagues this season, you will be able to get a discount on 2 leagues next season (any regular or rec league you choose, not marathons).  Your retention discount for season 1 is your first initial + last name + 1 (whichever name you registered for Season 6 under).  For Krista Paton, it would be KPaton1.  If you are in 2 leagues this season, you will have 2 discount codes, the second one with the number 2 instead.  Each retention discount code can only be used by you, and can only be used once. 

We are also expanding and increasing multi-league discounts, and that will be in addition to retention discounts. 

Retention Discounts & Multi-League Discounts will NOT be combinable with Black Friday sales, but will be combinable with each other.  We will publish the amounts of all discounts on Wednesday with the announcement of Black Friday Sales - I would recommend you wait to book until you see our Black Friday Offers so you can choose the best option for you! 

League & Event Cancellations

We have heard a lot of feedback on how frustrating it is when a league or event gets cancelled.  That frustration prevents people from registering for leagues and events and tying up money until they know it’s running OR makes them not want to sign up at all.  On our end, it makes it harder to plan and run leagues and events so it’s a negative feedback loop.  We are doing three things to help address this:  one is introducing payment options (below!), the next is a structural change to how we do leagues (next section!) and the third is us committing to just run things.  If we put a league or an event on sale, we are committed to running it.  If we don’t get the sign-ups we hoped for, but the people that signed up still want to play, we will run the event provided there are enough people for it to functionally run.

League Structure 

Starting with Season 1, with the exception of Premier League & Rec Leagues like Big Axe or Ladyblades which will remain their own registrations, we will take league sign-ups for the day of the week / time only.  You will register for Wednesday Night, not Wednesday Green.  If we get enough sign-ups for two leagues (33 people or more), we will divide the leagues by averages. If you really want to play with a particular person, you can always “move up” to the harder league, but you won’t be able to move down.  We know there will be some mixed emotions about this, and we’re asking you to try this out with us.  We did this our last few seasons in Austin, and the feedback was extremely positive after trying it.  People enjoyed playing against people of similar skill and we saw some new league winners!

Payment Options

We have finally found an option to eliminate the pain of paying for a full season of league all at once!  We are offering fee-free options to pay over the course of several weeks.  Use the discount code BILLME when you sign up for league.  You’ll pay for league every 2 weeks between 12/5/25 and 1/30/26.  Payments will be divided equally by the remaining 2-week periods, if you sign up on 12/1, you’ll pay 20% of your balance on 12/5, another 20% respectively on Dec 19, Jan 2, Jan 16 and Jan 30th.  There is no extra cost to use this option.  Please use the code BILLME only and don’t apply any other discounts, we’ll do that manually and then send you a separate invoice that will correctly spread the payments between now and Jan 30th. 

Note: This is a longer payment period than will be offered in future leagues because of the holiday break.

SMS for league news

We are starting a league-only SMS service to add another way to communicate league information.  This will be things like league registration + discount deadlines, upcoming events, and exclusive league offers like free practice, etc.  You should receive a text TODAY if you are subscribed and if not, please OPT-IN to receive these communications. You can opt in by texting SUBSCRIBE to 857-256-9600. 

Feedback and communication

With Nathan’s departure, I, along with our Director of Operations, Danielle Palmer, will be the point people for all things Urban Axes League moving forward.  Your League Masters and General Managers in each site can and should handle most things, but if you have feedback for us, questions they can’t answer, or issues they can’t resolve, please reach out to us via leagues@urbanaxes.com.
